Certification research

12A/12
12 years and over.
Films that may upset children under 12 or include material which parents may find unsuitable for them.
12A only exists for cinema films. No one younger than 12 may see a 12A film in a cinema, unless accompanied by an adult. This means that parents have the ability to decide wether or not the film is suitable for their child.
12 only exists for video works. No one younger than 12 may rent or buy a 12 rated video.
May contain strong language, moderate sex references, violence, suicides and moderate injury detail.
15
15 years and over.
No one under the age of 15 may buy or rent a 15 rated film or see a 15 rated film in the cinema.
May contain very strong language, sex references, drug use and strong violence.
18
No one under the age of 18 may buy or rent a 18 rated film or see a 18 rated film in the cinema.
May contain sexualised violence, strong violence, very strong language, humiliation, hard drug use and nudity.
